The network port problem

A high-wear failure point in a mission-critical tool.

The ICOM Next is vital across the BMW Group ecosystem — diagnostic bays, Motorrad workshops, Rolls-Royce configuration, and independent specialists all depend on it. But the internal RJ45 Ethernet port is a notorious weak spot. When it fails or turns intermittent you get laggy sessions, slow data transfer, and dropouts mid-job.

Until now, workshops had two bad options: pay ~£350.00 + VAT for a brand-new unit, or leave shelves full of dead ICOMs. There's no official repair route from the manufacturer. We've fixed that.

02
Ship & track

Send the parcel to our workshop. We photograph its condition on arrival and log every MAC address.

03
Repair & return

Each unit is inspected and, in most cases, the RJ45 Ethernet network port is repaired and dispatched back. If 15-pin service was requested, that port is repaired too. You get an email at every status change.

What is a MAC address?

Every ICOM has one printed on it.

A MAC address is a unique serial-style identifier for your ICOM unit. It is usually printed on a label on the device and looks like 00:1A:2B:3C:4D:5E. We use it to track each unit individually through the repair process so you always know exactly where your hardware is.

Instant paperwork

We make this easy.

As soon as you submit a repair request, you receive everything you need by email.  So you can get on with your job!

  • Packing & shipping labels — print and send your ICOMs straight away.
  • Terms & conditions — forward to your Legal team if required.
  • Pro-forma invoice — send to your Accounts department for approval.
Secure logistics

Your exact equipment, back every time.

  • MAC-address authentication — tracking uses the unalterable hardware MAC on the outer casing, eliminating mix-ups between workshop sites.
  • Royal Mail signed-for, fully insured return — dispatched with tracked, insured delivery to the address you nominate.
Transparent commercial terms

Simple admin, minimal overhead.

  • Flat-rate £85.00 + P&P per usual RJ45 network-port replacement.
  • 15-pin connector port replacement from £95.00 per unit — a less common, additional service.
  • Volume tiers for consolidated batches of over 20 units across regional dealer groups and specialist networks.
Why Blue Meets White

Prominent in the BMW Group ecosystem — we use ICOMs every day.

Industry insiders

We don't just repair ICOMs — we use them daily in live workshop environments and maintain close working relationships with BMW Group main dealers.

Infrastructure-grade engineering

Motherboard port replacement is executed by a UK partner operating from ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accredited facilities — engineers who routinely service enterprise Cisco routers and Tier-1 telecom switches.

Premium component upgrade

We don't fit a like-for-like port. The interface is upgraded with a higher-quality connector, proven in our own rugged workshop since 2021.

Live vehicle validation

Bench testing isn't enough. Every repaired ICOM Next is validated on a live vehicle platform before it's released back to you.

Built for the people who manage ICOMs

Turn broken ports back into working tools.

For parts managers

Parts managers are often reluctant to sell ICOMs because of the implications after sale should the port fail. Our repair route protects your customer relationships and reduces the risk of costly returns or goodwill claims.

For workshop managers

Workshop managers routinely have cupboards full of ICOMs with broken network ports which could economically be recommissioned. We turn those dormant units back into reliable workshop tools at a fraction of replacement cost.

Operational protocol & liability

Blue Meets White performs mechanical and electronic restoration strictly to the physical Ethernet interface hardware. Diagnostic, coding, adaptation, and module-flashing sequences depend on external factors (vehicle battery voltage, laptop OS, local network configuration, firmware, technician procedure), so Blue Meets White accepts no liability for vehicular data loss, ECU/module corruption, or consequential damage arising from subsequent use of the tool.
