Repairs are performed by a UK partner operating from ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accredited facilities — engineers who routinely service enterprise Cisco routers and Tier-1 telecom switches.

The usual repair is a network (RJ45 Ethernet) port replacement. The less common 15-pin connector port replacement is priced separately. Current prices are shown live on the repair submission form along with return postage and the saving against buying a new ICOM.

Important - if your ICOM port breaks, it really is best not to try repairing it yourself. We've seen ports glued down and have even found silicon RTV sealant holding network ports in place! Please don't do it.

Any kind of adhesive on the circuit board is bad news - for a number of reasons:

1. Uncured adhesives may be conductive and short out other components.
2. Adhesives don't fix the fractured pins between board and port. Fractured pins could see your port appearing to operate correctly, when in fact it operates at lower speeds and drops data packets - leading to instability.
3. Adhesives put more strain on the board and when the port "rips" away it can delaminate or fracture the circuit board. At least solder joints failing tend not to damage the board and allow for future repair. At this point, more complex board repairs are required, where possible, and this carries additional costs on a time taken basis.

We also see poorly performed repairs where too much heat has been applied to the board causing blistering and even ports which have not been located correctly before soldering and not sitting flush with the board.

We aim for 10 working days of arriving at the workshop. We inspect every unit on arrival, so if anything unusual is found we will message you through your order tracking page before any work goes ahead. If your repair is urgent please let us know at the time of booking and we'll contact you to discuss.

Generally speaking no. But we've been known to help existing customers out of sticky situations. Asking costs nothing!

Complete the submission form and you will receive shipping instructions by email straight away, along with your order reference. We even generate the shipping label so you simply print it and stick it on the box!

Pack the units well — bubble wrap each one and mark which repair(s) it requires, use a rigid box, and keep the port protectors fitted if you have them. We recommend enclosing all the units in a plastic bag to protect again water.

We use quality delivery services such as Royal Mail, UPS, Fedex etc. Your ICOMs will always be insured to their replacement value in the unlikely event they should be lost in transit.

Occasionally, we will hand deliver larger orders back to UK dealers - coffee please, no sugar!

Every repaired port is tested before it leaves the workshop and photographed at each stage of the job. ICOMs lead a rough life, so we allow 10-working days for you to verify the port is functioning correctly. We provide advice on how to minimise future damage but given workshop conditions it is impossible to put a long term warranty on the repair. We wish we could!
